Millbank Scout Group Honours ANZAC Tradition with Meaningful Community Participation

Millbank Scout Group ANZAC Day 2026

In the lead-up to this year’s ANZAC Day commemorations, the Millbank Scout Group proudly continued its long-standing tradition of honouring the service and sacrifice of Australia and New Zealand’s servicemen and women through education, reflection, and community participation.

On the eve of ANZAC Day, members of the Group were given the special opportunity to visit ANZAC Park, where local historian Bernie Gilpatrick guided the Scouts through the memorial precinct and shared the stories behind its significant monuments and memorials.

The experience proved both educational and inspiring for the Group’s youth members, who were deeply engaged throughout the tour and eager to learn more about the history and meaning of ANZAC Day.

The connection continued the following day when many of the Scouts were delighted to once again see Bernie attending the Civic Service at ANZAC Park.

“Thank you so much for arranging Bernie to meet with us. He was fantastic! Very engaging and knowledgeable. We loved catching up with him again at the civic service too!”

The Millbank Scout Group was proudly represented across several ANZAC Day commemorations, with Regional Commissioner Maurie Wilson joined by Rovers, Venturers, Scouts, and Cubs at the Civic Service. Several Venturers also attended the Dawn Service, Cemetery Service, and Moore Park Beach Service to pay their respects.

For many members, participation in these events is more than a community activity — it is an important opportunity to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of those who served our nation.

The Group has proudly upheld this ANZAC tradition for many years, encouraging young people to develop a deeper appreciation for Australia’s history, values, and spirit of service.

A sincere thank you goes to everyone who participated, supported, and contributed to making this year’s commemorations so meaningful and memorable for the Millbank Scout Group community.
